For this month of June is scheduled the opening of a new road infrastructure which is especially interesting for tourism on the Costa del Sol. The southern access to the airport, connecting directly the motorway A-7 (MA-20) at Guadalmar to the terminals is in the last phase of construction and will open to the public during June.
This new slip road permits -by now- one way access from both directions of the A-7 / MA-20 to the terminals, and vice versa once the works are completely concluded, which is expected to happen by the end of the year.
The slip road is less than 2 km long and has two lanes in each direction. The infrastructure helps to relieve the current access to Malaga airport (the only one, in fact) from the N-340 / MA-21 and Avenida Garcia Morato, especially during the peak summer season.
