The first private planes landed yesterday in the second runway at Malaga airport, thus this infrastructure has already begun its work.
There have been a total of 44 aircrafts, of which the first was a private plane and the first commercial flight was of the company Transavia.
These were the first passengers who have arrived at the runway called “12/30” and which has been placed in service after obtaining the security clearance of Civil Aviation on April 30.
Aena sources explained that these landing manoeuvres do not mean its widespread use, but for now form part of the training of the control tower facing the future commissioning on a wider scale. Thus this space will be used initially on demand, only in moments of maximum saturation of operations during the peak summer season.
The facility was certified by the State Agency for Aviation Safety, which supports compliance with new international standards. With this title, Malaga AGP became the third airport in the country, along with Madrid and Ibiza, which is ahead of the new requirements, which will be mandatory from 2016.
